  • 1 Apply relevant theories, methodologies and frameworks to the redesign of healthcare services, and interpret the influence of contextual factors operating at different levels within various healthcare sectors, relevant to health service reform and redesign.
  • 2 Develop critical-thinking skills, drawing on knowledge of relevant theories, frameworks, and contexts, to form a balanced and reflective approach to improvement practices within a person-centred healthcare context.
  • 3 Select and apply relevant frameworks, methodologies and sources of evidence to analyse and implement contextually fit-for-purpose healthcare improvements.
  • 4 Demonstrate personal insight, communication skills and collective leadership skills as a vehicle for transfer of knowledge to a variety of audiences, collaborative decision-making and shared action towards the continual improvement of healthcare services, at a local level.
  • 5 Examine and integrate best practices for healthcare redesign in order to make impactful contribution, for the benefits of patients and an efficient health(care) service.

    Applicants with higher education study

    Completed undergraduate degree at AQF7 level from an Australian higher education provider in a health or human welfare studies and services field, or equivalent overseas qualification 

    Or

    Completed undergraduate degree at AQF7 level from an Australian higher education provider in any discipline (or equivalent overseas qualification)

    And

    At least five years relevant professional and/or industry experience in a health or human welfare studies and services field.

    Admission to most postgraduate coursework courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects, and meet English language requirements to be eligible for an offer.

    Evidence of an approved English language test completed within the last 2 years must be provided. See the English Language Requirements page for more information.

    Course Specific Requirements

    Completed undergraduate degree at AQF 7 level from an Australian higher education provider in a health or human welfare studies and services field, or equivalent overseas qualification.

    Or

    Completed undergraduate degree at AQF 7 level from an Australian higher education provider in any discipline

    And

    At least five years relevant professional and/or industry experience in a health or human welfare studies and services field.

    Students who complete the Graduate Diploma of Healthcare Redesign can articulate into the Master Healthcare Redesign. The Graduate Diploma of Healthcare Redesign is an exit award for the Master of Healthcare Redesign. The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Redesign is an exit award for the Graduate Diploma of Healthcare Redesign.

    Domestic students

    Options for this course

    Cost shouldn’t get in the way of you studying.

    If you’re a domestic student, you may be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place in this course. This means your fees will be subsidised by the Australian Government. You’ll only need to pay the student contribution amount for each unit you study within the course.

    You may also be able to defer payment of the student contribution amount by accessing a HECS-HELP loan from the Government. If eligible, you’ll only have to pay your tuition fees once you start earning above a specific amount.

    2024 Total Course Fee (international students): $22,950 AUD*.

    Course cost based on a rate of $22,950 AUD per standard, full-time year of study (100 credit points).

    International students are charged the Student Services and Amenities Fee but this fee is incorporated in the annual rate. International students do not have to make any additional SSAF payments.
